The prospect of Gordon Brown's New Labour Government using £400million of our money raises the ugly head of fluoridation again in the face of enormous opposition?
He knows our famous democratic process of voting will fail him every time, so he intends to use his favourite weapon the ‘consultation process’ - the magic tool for getting whatever they want, when they want, how they want, regardless of the cost to
integrity, democracy, common sense and general public health.

The country has said time and time again for over 40 years that it does not want dangerous toxic poisons, upon which he will not conduct independent and scientific testing for efficacy and safety, pouring into our water supply.

Gordon should visit the following sites: Australian Fluoridation news (www.glenwalker.net/), American Fluoridation news (www.fluoridealert.org/fluoridation.htm) and English Fluoridation news (www.npwa.freeserve.co.uk/).

Turbine power for 1,000 homes

IN his letter, Ralph Johnson asks for the facts on wind power but focuses and asks questions on some minor points.

The facts are that every time you see one of those big turbines, they are powering around 1,000 homes. That’s the yearly average. When they turn at their top speed they are supplying electricity to more like 3500 homes.

Wind power can supply at least 20% of UK electricity, probably much more. The energy and CO2 payback for the large turbines is around six months, on average.

We can’t use nuclear power. It’ll cost a predicted £100bn to decommission the nuclear power stations that we’ve got. Sound like cheap energy? We have not found a long term solution to toxic nuclear waste that will last thousands of years.

We can’t carry on burning fossil fuels because of climate change of which the case is proven. Around 55,000 species are going extinct every year on our planet due to a combination of habitat loss and climate change. Climate change also means sea level rise. Put simply – where shall we rebuild London?

The future of energy on planet Earth is renewable and sustainable. That means electricity production from wind, wave, tidal and solar.

Richard Caborn MP writes that he hopes Sheffield’s industry will have a major role in building new nuclear power stations.
