DO Justice Love Mercy - prophet Micah.
It was good to see the Bishops taking a day out from their conference at Canterbury, to go up to London with their placards, led by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York through Whitehall and Millbank; they formed a colourful procession to Lambeth P
alace. Here, amongst representatives from other faith groups, they were addressed by Gordon Brown. He called, among other things, for a review of agricultural protectionism in poorer countries, so that poor farmers could grow food for their own needs and not simply for export.
But, the Archbishop of Canterbury was looking beyond this, urging the Governments of richer countries to have the political will not to preserve their own wealth at the cost of other people's poverty which, in turn, would result in a failure of global political will (Guardian 25/07/08).
So let's follow the prophet's adage and 'Do Justice Love Mercy', responsibly.
