Hard-working binmen do thankless task

I AM incensed by recent letters which ridicule the strength and character of refuse collectors.
I have nothing but praise for them - they undertake this thankless task in all weathers. Several weeks ago, just as the refuse lorry was approaching my home, my blue bin blew over.

The contents spilled all over the street and paper blew everywhere. I dashed outside to pick it all up but by the time I got outside, the refuse collectors had picked up every single scrap of paper from all over the street.

YOU ARE A LUCKY WOMAN. THE BIN MEN THAT ARE WORKING IN ALL WEATHERS SEEM TO BE THE AGENCY WORKERS EMPLOYED BY VEOLIA WHILST THE REGULAR WORKERS ARE TAKING DAYS OFF FOR VARIOUS REASONS. INCLUDING SICK DAYS. VEOLIA EMPLOY AGENCY WORKERS WHO GET A MEASLEY WAGE AND WORK UNDER BAD CONDITIONS. AS SOON AS THEY COMPLAIN THEY ARE SACKED. THE DRIVERS EMPLOYED BY VEOLIA ARE WELL PAID AND NEVER LEAVE THE WAGON, ALL THEY DO IS TO DRIVE AND COLLECT THE TIPS AT XMAS. IT IS TIME THAT AGENCY WORKERS THAT WORK FOR VEOLIA WERE PAID THE SAME WAGES AND WERE GIVEN THE SAME RESPECT. THEY ARE THE ONE'S THAT WORK HARD AND GIVE THE COMPANY A GOOD NAME.

I've had a similar experience to JS - the blue bin was kicked over by idiots during the night, and when the men came round they picked up the spilled paper.
