I WAS disappointed to see that the Green Councillor Creasey's misleading comments in the article regarding Veolia's planning application (July 11).
Nothing has been decided as the application is still in its early stages and the whole issue is still up in the air. It's my understanding that it will be at least a month before the application is considered by a planning board.

As I mentioned, I will meet with Veolia to look at the detail, but before the environmental impact assessment is completed its difficult to say with any confidence what the impact will be.

I won't take any lessons on what is environmentally best from local Green Party Councillors who have consistently voted against measures to allow people to recycle more.

Coun Shaffaq Mohammed, Liberal Democrat Cabinet member for Climate Change and the Local Environment

I welcome the comments by Coun Shaffaq Mohammed on Veolia's planning application and on previous recycling attempts.

Please can we (the Sheffield electorate) have some say for a change. Maybe a recycling meeting at the Town Hall asking us what we think.

I for one would like to see some aluminium can and plastics recycling bins. Seems a big waste to burn plastic when it can be easily recycled.
