MIKE Wild is quite right: we should do everything to keep the Shining One shining and do all we can to keep the River Don clean and tidy.
I am pleased to say that, due to the new Liberal Democrat Council putting £150,000 towards cleaning up Sheffield's rivers, we are doing work to clean up the Don which should be complete within the next six weeks.

The work is being carried out at w
eekends to reduce disruption. The area in the vicinity of Lady's Bridge will be delayed until refurbishment works have been completed, which should be in six weeks' time.

The new Liberal Democrat council is keen to keep the Shining One clean, as well as all other Sheffield rivers.

If anyone sees a 'grot spot', log on to the council website and report it and we will do our best to clean it up.

The new council said it would do just as much to look after local areas as the city centre. That is why this extra £150,000 will be deal with cleaning up rivers across the city.

Coun Paul Scriven, Leader, Sheffield City Council
