I made a 240-mile round-trip so that my son (who lives in Durham) and I could go and see one of his favourite bands together, Lost Prophets at Sheffield Carling Academy.
We had tickets for upstairs - what a waste of money! We could not see anything (and neither could a lot others) because there were more people than could fit round the balcony to view down onto the stage. It was a shambles, people were complaining to
security staff, and at least one scuffle broke out as people jostled for position.
The evening cost us £37.00 for tickets (plus £3.70 booking fees) and £35.00 in petrol. What should have been a great school holiday treat for Richard (who is 13) turned into a big disappointment.
There is nothing on the Academy's website or tickets to state upstairs is restricted/no view. There was a small screen behind the bar where we were positioned but the bar shut not even halfway through the set.
I was going to book to see Alter Bridge, Motorhead and The Prodigy at Sheffield Carling Academy but given last night's experience, we will catch these bands elsewhere on tour where we know we can get a good view, and in future will only use other Sheffield venues.
