NOTTINGHAM PANTHERS believe Steelers' reject Dan Tessier will punish teams during the higher-than-previous number of power plays that will come from having four officials on the ice.
The Elite League is running with two linesmen and two refs this coming season - inevitably meaning extra penalties as 'zero tolerance' becomes more a part of the game than it was last year.
Corey Neilson, the Panthers' boss explained, "That's one of the key reasons why I went for Dan.
"He wins face-offs, he gets his team-mates in on goal and we saw with Sheffield last season that he controls power-plays."
Steelers' coach Dave Matsos has welcomed fellow Canadian Tessier back to Britain and the Elite League, but insists he dropped Tessier because he was "looking for a different fit."
He feels a feistier edge brought by Nathan Gillies to the forward line will compliment flair players like Ashley Tait, Joey Talbot and Doug Sheppard.
Steelers have two friendlies against German opposition at iceSheffield this weekend.
