STEELERS say they had positive talks with Sheffield Arena and the Elite league yesterday about unresolved fixture issues.
There remains the odd sticking point over dates, principally because at least one pop promoter is holding three key dates in reserve.
But club spokesman Dave Simms said: "We are getting there now; hopefully we and the rest of the teams will be able to release the league fixtures soon."
*Coventry Blaze has been stunned by the news that captain Sylvain Cloutier has retired from playing hockey with "immediate
effect."
Coach Paul Thompson "I'm still very surprised to be honest. I spoke to him over the weekend and he told me then that he was going to retire to take up a full time, Head Coach position in the Central League with Corpus Christi Ice Rays.
"I've been speaking to him a lot over the summer while I've been building the team for the new season and we'd even got to the point where we had reached a deal to extend his own playing contract by another season. So this news definitely came out of the blue."
