STEELERS' fans will be licking their lips at the prospect of their "agitator" locking horns with a new signing who plays with similar robust style at Newcastle Vipers.
Much of Steelers' feistiness next season will come from Nathan Gillies, described by Sheffield team-mate Scott Basiuk as "a warrior."
Vipers have signed 31-year-old winger Tyler Willis joined from Kalamazoo Wings - and he is a player out of the same mould.
Ironically, Sheffield gave up on their attempts to bring in Willis when Gillies became available. In the previous two summers, Steelers had themselves courted Willis.
Club spokesman Dave Simms said: "Willis will be Vipers' agitator; so you can imagine that sparks will fly when he and Gillies will be on the ice together."
Fans of both Elite League clubs will have to wait until October 19 at Newcastle for the first Vipers v Steelers' collision.
*The Arena has upped Steelers' rent for the past four consecutive seasons, says Simms, in his Green Un column, out tomorrow.
*Tomorrow's Star: Scimitars' new goaltending duo and an interview with Steelers' Ryan Finnerty.
