IT'S not just Steelers who are challenging for ice hockey silverware in the city - the amateur club Sheffield Spartans are one win away from the English National League North Division One Title.
Spartans now know that a win at Kingston Jets on March 14 would grant them the English National League North Division One Title.
The team, who are the third tier of ice hockey in the city, beat ENIHL rivals Blackburn Hawks 3-2 on Sunday to set up
the showdown with Kingston.
The title is now Spartans for the taking after leaders Nottingham Lions finished on 46 points but if the Spartans win at Kingston they will be crowned champions judging on the results between the two teams as they will also finish on 46.
Temporary manager Mike Strawson has warned the team of complacency.
"The coaches will be expecting nothing but 110 per cent commitment from all players against Kingston," he said.
"As always nothing can be taken for granted - games between the two clubs are always fiery encounters."
Spartans have also qualified for the ENIHL Cup Final, having won it the previous two seasons. They play Invicta Diamonds on Saturday March 28.
Face-off is at 4.15pm at Ice Sheffield.
