JONATHAN Phillips has a recipe for his first few days off from ice hockey duties: Bad food and strong beer.
The Sheffield Steelers captain has returned from duties with Great Britain badly in need of some rest and recuperation.
"After winning the Play-offs with Sheffield we just had one day off before joining GB training camp," explained Phillips, who was joined in international duties by Steeler teammates Ashley and Warren Tait.
"We are all super-fit but badly in need of going somewhere there are no ice rinks and no gym! What we need now is some bad food and strong beer.
"Seriously, we are all pretty exhausted. We need at least two weeks off just living away from sport."
Phillips was one of the key performers for the GB squad in the World Championships in Austria who just missing out on a medal after having to settle for fourth place.
GB coach Paul Thompson said: "Jono has come on leaps and bounds since this time last year.
"He plays with the same energy and grit whether its for club or country, game or practice.
"Jonno is a leader in the dressing room and works solidly every shift out on the ice."
Phillips has re-signed for Steelers next year and The Star expects news of similar re-captures within the next week.
Steelers will be particularly keen to sign Jeff Legue who ended the season in top form.
