STEELERS skipper Jonathan Phillips today became the first skater to re-sign for the Play-off champions - a move he described as the "easiest decision of my life."
Phillips was a goalscoring hero in the finals weekend, but it was his year-round drive and commitment that endeared him to his coach Dave Matsos and team-mates.

The ex-Cardiff Devil said: "We are building for the long term, we don't just want one championship we want several.

"I expect us to be better next year. I love playing for Matty, he gets the best out of me as a coach. He only accepts winners in his team."

Matsos commented: "Jonno had a career high in goals hitting over 20 for the first time, captained the side to a Championship and is just about to head to Austria playing for his country.

"He skates so well, hits hard, scores goals and leads and I'm happy we've agreed terms.".

Phillips is part of Team GB preparing for the World Championships in Austria. He will be joined by team-mates Ashley and Warren Tait. GB play a friendly tonight at Coventry (8pm) against Sweden's U-20s side that finished second in last year's World Junior Championships.
