FORMER Sheffield Steelers forward Chris Szysky has been confirmed as a competitor in junior hockey club Sutton Sting's cancer charity Pro-Am game on August 16 at iceSheffield.
Promoters Ian Johnson and Gary Apsley are hoping to raise £50,000 for the Weston Park Hospital Appeal.

Johnson said: "Szysky is a player who was at the top of my list of players to invite to play. He took no convincing at all and jumped at the chance to come back to Sheffield."

"At Steelers Chris was a highly physical player who roamed the ice looking for guys with their heads down.

"It didn't matter who his opponent was, or how big he was he always ended up on his backside after being hit by the Disco!"

Since ending his professional career with Steelers through knee injury, Szysky has kept his skates laced-up by icing for the Buzzards in Canada's HHL where he is the only player in the league who plays wearing three knee braces.
