EX-SHEFFIELD Steelers enforcer Dion Darling is confirmed as the latest recruit to the Sutton Sting pro-am charity ice hockey game at iceSheffield on Saturday August 16.
Sting co-founder Gary Apsley said: "We are so pleased that Dion will be making the trip back to Sheffield to help us reach our £50,000 target."
Darling, a former Steelers captain played 165 games for the team, scoring 28 goals in three seasons.
"I can't wait to meet-up with my old buddies in Sheffield, I had a great time there, the fans are the best I've come across and I'll be helping a great cause too," he said. "I haven't skated all summer and when the boys put a call in to me I needed to get down the rink because those guys were all fired-up about this game, so I had to get ready!"
Darling flies back in to the UK on August 12 and will be taking part in a "Skate with the Pros" event being hosted for Junior players on the morning of the 16th at iceSheffield.
Tickets for the game are available now priced at £5 each from www.suttonsting.com. Anyone interested in getting involved or supporting the event should contact Gary Apsley by email to
