BOB Phillips says defenceman Randy Dagenais was his favourite Steeler last season.
It is, perhaps, a surprise choice, given the Play-off champions' speed, flair and firepower up front.
But the Sheffield owner is in no doubt who he was most impressed with last season. "Dagenais took a gamble by coming on a two year deal, but he has stuck with us and I like his solid, no-nonsense defensive style," said Phillips. "I like him as a guy and as a player."
Phillips also says the player he is looking forward most to seeing in the Sheffield line-up next year is gritty forward Nathan Gillies, once a college team-mate of Dagenais.
The proprietor said: "We have read a lot about him, we know he has so many good points and very few bad ones."
Asked who his favourite player was last year across the Elite League, Phillips opted for Coventry Blaze netminder Trevor Koenig, who had a 93% save record.
