Edinburgh Capitals have signed Canadian defenceman Taylor Christie for the 2008-09 Elite League season.
The 25-year-old, a sixth-round draft pick by Colorado Avalanche in 2002, spent last term in the ECHL with Dayton Bombers and Phoenix Roadrunners.
Cardiff Devils have signed Canadian forward Rod Hinks.
Hinks, 35, joins the Welsh after playing in Switzerland and has spent much of his career in Europe. Hinks is also familiar with the Elite League, having played for the Newcastle Vipers in 2006/07. In 40 games on Tyneside Hinks scored 23 goals and added 24 assists.
"Rod played in the Swiss B league last year, which you have to be extremely skilled to play in and many players can't make it there," said Devils coach and ex Steeler Gerad Adams.
"He's a good scorer, with great stick-handling and is going to partner Jason Silverthorn on the first line. We've signed a few physical forwards so far, so bringing in Rod gives us more skill up front."
Tomorrow: Who is Steelers' most underrated player?
