SCOTT BASIUK hopes his new Sheffield Steelers' team will silence Hull Stingrays' "loud and rowdy" fans tonight (Sat).
Steelers visit the Humber in the first of back-to-back games competing for the Yorkshire Cup.

The former Manchester Phoenix defenceman knows it could be a heated affair as fans at the small rink can whip up feeling among the players.

Speaking on an audio link on thestar.co.uk, Basiuk said: "We're going to have do play well, especially going up there with their fans.

"They like to be loud and rowdy. They do make a lot of noise, against Manchester they were all over Tony (Hand,) I don't know why the Hull fans hate Tony so much!

"I don't know who they are going to be chirp on at in our team. Maybe me, maybe Munner, (Steve Munn) because Munner likes to drop the mitts. It should be good!"

Basiuk says he has been training on ice for more than a month and is ready for the Yorkshire Cup, which concludes tomorrow at the Arena (6pm.)

"Last weekend (against Beitigheim-Bissingen) we weren't overly co-ordinated and our passing was atrocious...this weekend will be a measuring stick but it if we are not great it won't be a reason to panic."

Basiuk says he gets most of his points on the power play, (last year he helped himself to 12+ 33 for Manchester) but accepted that Sheffield already have Randy Dagenais and Rod Sarich roaming from the blue line looking for chances.

"It depends on what Matty (Dave Matsos, coach) wants me to do. Roddy and Randy got 35 plus points last year."
