Sheffield Steelers shut out Cardiff Devils 2-0 to chalk up their first league win of the season.
Steelers set about restoring their credibility at Cardiff following the previous night's 3-1 embarrassment at home to Edinburgh Capitals, where they managed to score just once from 51 shots.
And they went about it the right way in South Wales, last
year's top scorer Joey Talbot scoring his first league goal of the season in the 33rd minute.
Talbot doubled his tally 27 seconds into the final period.
There was the inevitable aggressive outburst when Devils knew they were beaten, Brad Voth getting a monumental penalty for fighting and charging.
Devils took 75 penalty minutes, but Steelers kept their discipline taking 21.
The win proves that they can to smaller rinks, face bigger players, and win.
And it serves to suggest Saturday night's home defeat was not an accurate representation of what we can expect this season.
