A COMMUNITY day organised to unite part of Sheffield was marred by clashes between dozens of youths.
The event, at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane football stadium, was aimed at bringing members of the community together through sport.

But, during a penalty shoot out, tensions ran high and up to 50 youngsters were involved in a disturbance.

So
uth Yorkshire Police said officers were sent to the ground after reports that the group had started "pushing and shoving" each other - but insisted violence did not break out.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "A number of youths were reported to be pushing and shoving each other, and were reluctant to leave the ground.

"However, there was no fighting and police did not make any arrests."

The community day, on Sunday, attracted thousands to Bramall Lane when a one off 20/20 game of cricket was organised featuring a United All Stars team made up of former players Tony Currie, Adrian Littlejohn and Mark Todd.

The event was organised by Sheffield United and the group Football Unites, Racism Divides - an anti-racism project using football to educate people about the dangers of racism.
