A SHEFFIELD high school is celebrating - after inspectors rated it outstanding in every area of their official report.
It is the second time in three years that Notre Dame RC High has received such an accolade.
The inspection team found relationships between staff and pupils were exemplary, their behaviour excellent, and teaching and learning was outstanding.
T
he report says: "Students thrive in an atmosphere where each is cherished as an individual, and all are challenged and supported to achieve their best. All students make very good progress, consistently, throughout the school.
Headteacher Jim Conway said: "As a teacher it is very gratifying to see inspectors write that teachers are expert at explaining the purpose and context of lessons and that there is a genuine sense of exploration and curiosity in the classroom.
"We have worked very hard over many years to create a learning culture where every single child has an opportunity to do their very best by removing obstacles to effective learning and giving teachers the chance to show their expertise and talent. At the end of the day our students provide the best possible evidence of the success of the school."
In 2005/06 Notre Dame was one of only eight secondary schools out of the 1,400 inspected nationally to be outstanding in every single category and sub-category of their inspection report, a feat the school has now repeated.
