BUSINESSES and soccer fans have pledged thousands of pounds to help save a legendary South Yorkshire women's football team.
Doncaster Belles were on the verge of going bust and did not even have enough cash to pay for a team coach for Sunday's game with Arsenal.

But team manager John Buckley today revealed he had been inundated with support - and said he had been moved
by the response.

Cash has been offered for the bus to Arsenal securing the club's future beyond the weekend - and since then the figure pledged has run into the thousands.

Mr Buckley said: "People have been fantastic. One of the best reactions has come from the Doncaster Rovers supporters organisations have been absolutely unbelievable.

The club needs £60,000 a year to operate and is meeting organisations to try to secure their long-term future. Offers of help or sponsorship to Paul Green: 07966 163968.
