POLICE have uncovered yet another cannabis factory in Sheffield which was hidden away in a terraced house in a busy suburb.
The illegal drug cultivation den was found by police officers yesterday morning when they stormed the house in Hale Road, Abbeydale, in a pre-planned raid.
The loft and bedrooms were being used to grow the Class C drug and the cellar was being converted into another cultivation room.
Officers suspect the cannabis plants had a street value of around £17,000.
They said the factory was a sophisticated, professional set-up full of specialist hydroponics, heating and lighting equipment.
A 45-year-old Vietnamese man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. It has not yet emerged whether he has been charged or bailed.
They also recovered heroin and crack cocaine valued at £11,000 at another house, in Laverack Street, Firth Park.
A man in his 20s was due before magistrates today charged with possession with intent to supply drugs.
The raids formed part of a week-long crackdown on drugs being carried out across South Yorkshire as part of national Tackling Drugs Awareness Week.
