A MOUNTAIN biker was in hospital this morning with spinal injuries after falling 50 metres down a steep bank.
The 23-year-old was said to have been training for a mountain biking exam in Wheata Woods, Grenoside, when he plunged down the embankment.

A biking instructor with him at the time raised the alarm and directed emergency services to the scene of the accident - around two miles away from the nearest road.

Firefighters and paramedics had to lift the biker up the hill to a waiting ambulance before he could be taken to the Northern General Hospital.
