Illicit anglers caught out

ILLEGAL anglers were the catch of the day for the Environment Agency when a successful sting netted five offenders.
The five men, all from Sheffield and Rotherham, were caught by Environment Agency officers fishing without licences at different sites in South Yorkshire.

They were ordered to pay a total of £900 when they appeared before Rotherham Magistrates' Court.

Sheffield man Raymond Hancock, aged 41, of Southey Hall Drive, Southey, was fined £75 and ordered to pay £75 costs, and Neil Fathers, 32, of Watch Street, Woodhouse, was fined £100 and ordered to pay costs of £75.

John Napper, 20, of Foljambe Road, Eastwood, Rotherham, was fined £100 and ordered to pay costs of £75.

Liam Walker, 28, of Mill Lane, Anston, Rotherham, and Andrew Vickers, 36, of Rotherham Road, Maltby, were each fined £75 and ordered to pay £75 costs.
