WORKMEN have resurfaced Springvale Road in Sheffield - or, rather, resurfaced most of it.
They were forced to swerve to avoid parked cars whose owners hadn't heeded warning signs advising motorists to leave the roadway free of obstruction.

So the area around this Citroën had to be left as it was, while the rest of the road was given a new covering of tarmac.

Coun John Hesketh, who represents the area, said: "The lads doing the work put up signs asking car drivers not to park on certain days.

"Instead some people left their cars on the road and the team had to swerve round them."

The owners should be sent the bill for the extra cost of returning later to finish the job. What is it with these people who think that the rules that the rest if us follow don't apply to them?
