A CHANGE in the way child maintenance is collected has led to an extra £286,000 for youngsters across South Yorkshire compared to three years ago, according to the Government.
Nearly 18,000 children now receive the correct benefits in the area, with more than £22 million collected between April last year and this March.
The number of parents slipping through the net is also falling, with an extra £286,800 being collected between March 2005 and March 2008.
Broken down this adds up to an extra £103,200 in Sheffield, £83,800 in Doncaster, £62,800 in Barnsley and £37,000 in Rotherham.
