A SHEFFIELD teenager gunned down in an inter-gang feud was a drug dealer who robbed chains from people in nightclubs, it has been claimed in court.
Tarek Chaiboub, aged 17, of Castledine Gardens, Wincobank, was shot in daylight outside a barber's on Spital Street, Burngreave, last July.

Sheffield Crown Court has been told it was a revenge attack carried out by a group of men believing he had
passed on information which left a friend fighting for life after a knife attack.

Clare Peterkin, who lived on the same street as Tarek and hung about with the S3 postcode gang Tarek and his alleged killers were part of, told police how the teenager - known on the street as GT, which stood for 'Global Threat' - had been "running scared" before his death.

She claimed he had been "popping chains" - street slang for stealing necklaces - from men in The Vibe nightclub in Sheffield city centre and he was wanted by people from Manchester and Birmingham.

Ms Peterkin, a mother-of-seven, also told police Tarek told her he had robbed £13,000 from somebody at gunpoint and he used to carry a knife.

The court heard because of her involvement with the defendants she too was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and only gave full detailed interviews to the police once she had been told she was not going to be prosecuted.

Ms Peterkin's friend Danielle Webster, who was with her when she said Michael Chattoo and Javan Galloway were talking about the stabbing attack, said: "I didn't hear anything. I was just listening to my music and concentrating on the road.

"I had been moving house that day and driving around and I was really tired.

"I heard Clare say something about 'death' or 'dead', but I didn't listen in on the conversation. I'm not the greatest person when it comes to memory."

Nigel Junior Ramsey, 22, of Andover Street, Burngreave, is alleged to have organised the shooting from his prison cell using a smuggled mobile phone.

His brother Denzil Emanuel Ramsey, 20, also of Andover Street, Burngreave; Michael Jermain Chattoo, 21, of Daniel Hill Street, Upperthorpe, and a 17-year-old youth who cannot be named for legal reasons, are charged with murder for allegedly taking part in the shooting.

Nigel Ramsey, Chattoo and 20-year-old Javan Richard Galloway, of Nottingham Street, Burngreave, are accused of attempted murder following the knife attack on Tarek a few days before.

The defendants deny all the charges. The trial continues.
