THE manufacturers of a cradle which broke, killing a Sheffield tower block painter, knew of its deadly design faults but failed to act, a court heard.
A bracket on one of Sky Climber's cradles broke in Australia, and the occupants were saved by a safety line, Sheffield Crown Court heard.
But the Belgian company failed to notify users of its platforms worldwide, it was claimed.
A painter was killed and three others were seriously injured when a Sky Climber cradle being used on a building in Sheffield city centre suffered a similar failure in 2003.
Owners Apollo Cradles, of Carlton, Barnsley, deny three counts of breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
