IT'S a part time job where the boss actively encourages workers to throw a sickie.
It's also a position for people who don't mind getting wrapped up in their work - or even bandages.

Thing is, the St John Ambulance don't need casual workers - they need casualties.

They're on the look out for South Yorkshire people to feign illness or pretend they have broken a limb or have collapsed with a fake heart attack in order to help first aid students practice.

The organisation says recruits will usually be needed on Tuesdays or Thursdays - sometimes at short notice - and must be over 18 and very importantly, but somewhat ironically, fit and healthy.

A spokesman said: "You may be made up to resemble realistic injuries and must be comfortable with being in close proximity to other people and being touched and moved.

"You will be expected to act and respond as a real casualty would, appropriate to the injuries and condition that will be explained to you."

Those chosen will be asked to be conscious and answer questions from first-aiders.

The spokesman added: "We aim for casualties to simulate injuries and symptoms as realistically as possible in the given circumstances to help the first-aiders. This may include make-up or plastic replicas.

"When answering the first-aiders' questions you will need to state sources of pain and allow yourself to be examined in those areas giving the history of the incident and the symptoms of your condition when asked.

"You will need to co-operate with the first aider, but not interfere with the treatment being given."

Nice work and the pays not bad either - £11.90 for the first two hours and £5.13 per hour after that plus travelling expenses. Contact Donna Muncher on 01924 268679.
