BARNSLEY are happy to travel as underdogs on Saturday to Queens Park Rangers - the team dubbed 'the Chelsea of the Championship.'
Multi millionaire backers have made the London club potentially the richest in domestic football and Barnsley's dismal one win in 20 record at Loftus Road makes victory on Saturday against the odds.

But Barnsley insist they are up for the challenge.

"They're the 'Chelsea' of the Championship and will be favourites for the game, but we're confident about beating them on Saturday," Oakwell winger Martin Devaney stated.

"We're definitely ready and will be prepared and well organised for the game. We have nothing to fear and we have a good squad of players here who can do well in this division.

"We know they've spent a lot of money and there are big expectations at QPR, but we are full of confidence and I can see no reason why we cannot go and win. This is a new season and we're going there without fear."

QPR made unwelcome headlines for themselves three days before the Championship kicks off with reports claiming manager Iain Dowie was on the verge of being sacked following a row.

Rumours have emerged that Dowie, who was only appointed in May, had clashed with co-owner Flavio Briatore over the recruitment policy.

But the club have responded to the speculation by insisting there is "categorically no truth in the rumours", with Dowie set to take training on today as normal.

Briatore has had a hand in Real Madrid starlet Daniel Parejo, Argentinian youngster Emmanuel Jorge Ledesma and Italian playmaker Samuel di Carmine arriving at QPR on loan deals.
