CHESTERFIELD new signing Robert Page has his eyes on The Championship after moving from Huddersfield to League Two Saltergate.
The 33-year-old Welsh international said: "Boss Lee Richardson really sold Chesterfield to me with his ambition for the club and where he wants it to go and about the new ground that's due to be built. That's something I want to be part of.

A form
er Bramall Lane teammate of leading scorer Jack Lester and fitness coach Shane Nicholson, Page said: "I have spoken to Jack and Shane and they said a lot of positive things about the club.

"I want promotion for the club straight away.

"I want to play, win games and get promoted next season and then help to establish the club in League One and push on for the Championship."

The central defender started his career at Watford, for whom he played in the 1999 Wembley Play-Off Final win over Bolton Wanderers that saw Hornets step up to the Premier League.

He was a regular in the top flight in the following season, a campaign that also saw him play for Wales against a Brazil side that included Dida, Cafu, Rivaldo and Ze Roberto.

In 2001 he joined the Blades and in 2003 played for them in the semi-finals of both the FA and League Cups plus the Play- off Final loss against Wolves at the Millennium Stadium.

Aspell at Cardiff City preceded his time at Coventry City where he was involved in a training-ground bust-up with Michael Doyle that left Doyle short of several teeth and Page with an injured hand.
