ROTHERHAM United manager Mark Robins looks set to announce his retained list as he continues his planning for next season although the club's takeover is not yet officially completed.
Most of the senior players in the squad only joined the Millers last summer and remain under contract.
There were 11 newcomers in, including Andy Todd who has spent the second half of the season on loan at Accrington Stanley and whose last appearance for the Millers was in early December.
Also under contract is Chris O'Grady but he is set to move on and Rotherham will seek a fee.
He declined to sign for the wage deferrals in March and April and did not figure in Robins's plans again for the remainder of the season.
The striker, joint top scorer with 11 goals, has also intimated he wants to play at a higher level.
As usual, those being released should include several young players who have been unable to break into the senior squad.
Also out of contract is the club's record appearance holder, Paul Hurst.
The veteran has featured only once since the end of November, and it is expected that his long and illustrious Millmoor playing career will officially be over.
He made 494 appearances in all.
Robins also has a decision to make over midfielder Ian Ross who signed a short-term contract last November, having been allowed to go by Sheffield United.
He started only nine games, although doubling that figure as a substitute, but his failure to pin down a midfield place suggests that he has not made out a convincing case to stay on.
Meanwhile, takeover talks continue in addition to trying to reach a decision on where the club will be playing next season - a decision that will have to be arrived at soon because of the need to start making season ticket arrangements.
