KEVIN Blackwell has cemented his love affair with Sheffield United by insisting that people, not plaudits, are his biggest motivation.
Blackwell, who returned to the club after Bryan Robson's departure in February, has set his sights on delivering Premiership football to Bramall Lane next season.

Transformed by Blackwell's leadership, United climbed from 16th to within touching d
istance of the play-offs in less than three months before narrowly failing to secure a top six finish on the final day when they lost an epic battle at Southampton.

Blackwell's efforts have been rewarded with a three year contract but, having spent the early days of his reign working on a goodwill basis, he said: "It's never been about the money for me.

"It's always been about the people. I've got some great friends here and everyone knows this club has a special place in my heart.

"That's why I want to do well. "That's what drives me on. To my mind, if you do well then you usually get your rewards anyway."

Blackwell, who previously served as Neil Warnock's successor, has welcomed the news that more than 12,000 season ticket holders have already renewed their seats for the 2008/09 campaign.

Existing season ticket holders can renew until 2pm this afternoon, between 10am and 4pm tomorrow and between 9am and 7pm on Monday.

Sheffields biggest team,

Bladeland 17/05/2008 21:26:48
I fully expect The Blades to be in contention for automatic promotion this coming season if the nucleus of the side remains the same.

You all fully expected the Blunts to be in contention for automatic promotion this last season, but you weren't, and you won't be in the comming season so dream on sucker and live a long and happy life in your home for the bewildered ! Even we took 4 points off you (should have been 6) You are a team with no backbone for a fight, Warnock for all his other shortcommings at least gave you some spine.

Typical of certain fOWL's fans, they just managed to stay up on the last day, could only fill just over half they're ground all season, (only got a good crowd at the end by offering cheap tickets, peeing off current season ticket holders in the process) they then raise ticket prices knowing there was still possibility of still getting relegated, (wonder how many will be at Swillsborough next season, I'm guessing less than this season!!) yes you managed to take 4 points off us (which actually kept you up in the end) you deserved the points at your ground! but you were not worthy of all three at ours!)

I see a typical deflection syndrome here! yes we didnt have a backbone under Robson, but now he's gone! so prepare to be beaten twice next year, (something you aint managed to do to us for a long time!!!)
