YOU get two for the price of one this week: a review of a takeaway and a review of an online takeaway ordering service.
The people at e-resistible saw that I'd tried out one of their rivals in a past Takeaway Test, so they challenged me to give theirs a go.

So, on to the website, www.e-resistible.co.uk.

I put in my postcode and a list of seven takeaways came up - so not exactly a huge choice - but it covered Indian, pizza, kebabs and Chinese options.

I went for the Red Lion takeaway on London Road, which has been serving people Chinese food seemingly forever. You can look at other users' reviews and you automatically see customers' ratings next to the restaurant's name. The Red Lion's assessment stands at 63 per cent at the time of writing.

The menu pops up online. There's plenty of veggie choices plus some English dishes.

The various sections all have pull-down menus and all you do is hit the green 'add to order' button at the side of each choice.

Some of the best features of the website are the email and text messages you can get telling you your order has been received and is ready.

My friend Cath went to pick up the order on her way round to me - you can order a delivery slot too - and it was ready on time in about 25 minutes, but she had to know what I'd ordered so the staff could identify it. I'd already paid online but you can opt to pay on collection if you prefer.

We went for the special starter combo, which is £6 for prawn toasts, spare ribs, wontons, chicken wings and mini spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce. As our order had just edged over £15, we also got some more free chicken wings.

Everything was fine without being spectacular and Cath wasn't a big fan of the prawn toast.

Her main course was chicken with hot chilli sauce (£3.60) and it had some nice chunks of chicken and vegetables and a good hit of spice in the tomatoey sauce.

I picked mine because I loved the name, wondering dragon (£4.50), which I assume is a misspelling of the equally appealing wandering dragon. No dragon but plenty of chunks of chicken, prawns and char sui pork plus lots of vegetables.

Job done, with the addition of some egg fried rice (£1.50) and the obligatory free prawn crackers.

Cath went home with a bag of leftovers as well.

So, a pretty pleasant meal ordered from an efficient website and everybody's happy.
