RESTAURANT boss Chris Hawkins reckons he's been losing up to £10,000 of business a month from not having a late drinks licence.
Now the licence for the Restaurant and Bar 23 at the West One complex on Fitzwilliam Street, Sheffield, has been restored and he can sell booze until midnight.
But 23, which won the restaurant of the year title in the Eat Sheffield awards, is still at a disadvantage, says Chris.
"Other bars only a short distance away can open until 1 or 1.30am," he points out.
The restaurant is among others at the base of a complex of apartments and had been granted a licence on a temporary basis. When that ran out there were objections, now overturned.
Chris says that when people organising functions realised they would have to stop drinking at 11pm they went elsewhere. Now he's got the licence back for another year.
He's calling for a level playing field so all places are treated the same.
