SUPERSIZE chef Nick Buckingham, who runs the eponymous upmarket Chesterfield hotel, has been named Local Food Hero in the Derbyshire Food and Drink Awards.
Nick, who also runs the locally famous Restaurant With One Table, supplies much of the kitchen with food grown locally, often from his own allotment.

This was the seventh year of the awards, hosted this year at Thornbridge Hall, Ashford-in-the-Wat
er, and presented by celebrity chef Brian Turner.

The restaurant of the year award went to the Michelin-starred Fischers of Baslow Hall while pub of the year honours were taken by the Chequers Inn at Froggatt Edge.

The award for the best restaurant within an attraction went to the Cavendish Rooms, a popular spot for afternoon tea, at Chatsworth House.

Next year's Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair will be held at Bolsover Castle on May 16 and 17.
