Champs, claimed to be the first sports bar in Britain, closed next Monday for a full scale revamp.
New boss Jim Harrison, of Thornbridge Hall, promised to do that after taking over the premises from founder Dave Wickett in May.

The place was famous for its sport memorabilia, some of which will be auctioned off. Jim will keep the rest and add th

n Not sure which beer to order in your local pub? Why not hedge your bets and try three for a price of a pint.

Ember Inns is offering "tasting racks" of three different beers in one-third pint glasses for £2.50 from next Monday, October 13.

The beers will be chosen from a selection of some of the country's 2,500 cask ales.

The idea is to encourage people to experiment and support regional ales.
Pubs taking part in Sheffield are the Bulls Head, Fulwood Road; Prince of Wales, Ecclesall Road; Robin Hood, Millhouses lane; Sportsman, Benty Lane; and Rising Sun, Abbey Lane.

n Chesterfield's biggest-ever Continental market comes to the North Derbyshire town for three days from Thursday, October 30, with over 30 stalls.

The event, on Central Pavement, Low Pavement and New Square, will also incorporate a beer festival on the Friday and Saturday, organised by Chesterfield Campaign for Real Ale. About 25 real ales will be on sale.
n Owlerton dog track is offering customers 1p meals and admission on tuesdays and Fridays. Download vouchers at 111.1pmealdeal.com

n It's not unusual for staff at the Robin Hood pub in Little Matlock, Stannington, to get a plaintive call from would-be customers - where are you?

"Their sat nav has lead them to a dead end on Greaves Lane," says chef Peter Wilkinson.

That's where the pub, making waves with its food, is but the lane has a break in the middle where cars can't get through.

Now he's put instructions on the website telling sat nav users to enter the 'nearest crossroads' option.

This brings them to the Anvil on Stannington and the Robin Hood is signposted from then on.
