ICE cream boss Jane Bownes has to keep a cool head about her whenever she gets a certain type of telephone call.
It's not for a bulk order of Bradwell's Ice Cream but an emergency call to react as a First Responder with the St John's Ambulance Brigade.

"Because we are in a rural area we can get there first," says Jane, one of the dozen volunteer responders i
n the Hope Valley. She's dealt with cases from suspected heart attacks to choking.

Jane, who is managing director, has just brought out a range of luxury ices in the Platinum Collection which includes cherry Bakewell, lemon curd and double chocolate.

"Cherry Bakewell is a local flavour but we couldn't call it Bakewell Tart or Pudding," she says.

The range is the Bradwell-based company's answer to Haagen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry but at a cheaper price.

They were produced first as scoop ices for the Trafford Centre in Manchester and will be available in supermarkets from next month.

- If the new Hello Deli sandwich shop on Arundel Gate, Sheffield, sounds familiar it's because boss Peter Pternitis ran a similarly named place at Nether Green until recently.

- John Lewis's Place To Eat cafeteria has got a healthy eating award from the city council and primary care trust - the first department to sign up to the scheme.

- The Arena Square restaurant on Attercliffe Common, Sheffield, has been revamped and renamed as Table Table, one of 105 Whitbread eateries to get the makeover.

It claims to have different dining spaces and tables to suit your mood and sells a range of pubs meals with a gastro twist.
