AFTER 13 years, an ice cream parlour has closed on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield, licked by parking problems.
Joe's Ices, the award-winning family ice cream company based at Beighton, opened the parlour in 1995 to sell ice creams as well as all-day breakfasts, coffees and other items.

"Extending the bus lane on Ecclesall Road and the knock-on effect of parking restrictions in Sharrow Vale meant our customers have had nowhere to park," says boss Paul McNeil, pictured. A rent hike also hasn't helped.

Paul is anxious to make clear that the ice cream business, run by his mother Flo, is still healthy.

Flo is well known in the Beighton area for ringing a handbell when her ice cream van tours the streets. She never did get on with an electric bell.
