MOTORWAY services are one of the few places where a Prince pees next to a pauper and celebrities queue like everyone else.
Woodall services - between junctions 30 and 31 on the M1 in South Yokshire is a goldmine for celebrity spotters and earlier this year the Royal bandwagon rolled in with Prince William and his entourage.

"We had Prince William on the south forecourt with his entourage and someone bought mints for him," said services director Karen Hopkinson.

"We have all sorts of people here, Gareth Gates, Chubby Brown came in for a cup of coffee and we've had Sheffield Wednesday footballers," said WH Smiths shop assistant Elizabeth Brown, known as Lizzy.

They've seen most of the cast of Emmerdale, Lenny Henry, Girls Aloud - who went to KFC. Harry Gration is taller than he looks on telly say the staff. Magician Paul Daniels, actor Robson Green singer Ronan Keating and former Sheffield Wednesday manager and World Cup winner Jack Charlton.

"Most of them just come and get what they want and leave. Sometimes people will ask for an autograph but no-one usually makes a fuss, as you'd expect," said customer services assistant Alan Waterhouse

But there is always the exception.

Apart from TV chef James Martin who was said to be a bit grumpy on a recent visit, there is the story of legendary TV misery Nora Batty - known as actress Kathy Staff when she's on the motorway.

"One of the girls asked her for her autograph and she said: 'I don't have time for that, I've come here to eat," added Alan.

"The girl felt snubbed – she was a bit upset."
