Kate Moss may make boyfriend mistakes, but she rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to the way she dresses.
However, it's fair to say she boobed last week when she was snapped out and about wearing the latest summer trend. Sheer gear is set to be all the rage as the weather hots up. The cool, floaty look is sheer heaven if you get it right.

But as Kate proved, it can also be sheer hell...

When she stepped out in a see-through polka dot dress, she forgot a well-known celebrity fact... that paparazzi flashbulbs make clothing even more sheer.

As the cameras flashed, so did the supermodel... leaving very little to the imagination!

Ms Moss isn't the only celeb to let her underwear standards slip. Remember those infamous pictures of shy Lady Di the kindergarten teacher?

From that moment on, the entire world knew that the future Princess had fantastic legs.

But plenty of barely-there chiffon and flyaway organza fashions floated down the spring/summer catwalks at Jasper Conran, Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Topshop Unique. And many a high street chain has copied the trend.

So how do you do this daring look without losing your dignity?

sheer style made easy

"Transparency gives the impression of lightness, elegance and movement," says designer Sophia Kokosalaki of her sheer spring/summer collection.

"It works in layers and the interplay of light adds another dimension."

Light as air dresses in floaty chiffons, see-through silks and floaty organza are there for the taking right now.

So how do you go sheer this season without showing your bare essentials?

If you're not brave enough to work a full sheer outfit, check out heavily layered or ruffled pieces, which should leave you feeling less exposed. Or try Principles' neutral shift dress (£79), which is covered everywhere but its sheer shoulderline.

Cut-out or sheer panels are a contemporary way to wear the look.

But instead of flaunting your undies like the catwalk models, wear a slip dress or top underneath.

Colour-wise, soft pinks and lemons work well for day, while a neutral colour palette of white, beige and dusty pink look romantic at a summer wedding.

And sheer grey or black are great for summer eveningwear.

see-through top

Opting for a sheer top is the easiest option to tap into the barely-there trend.

Snap up something from the multitude of sheer, shirred waist tops, blouses, shirts sand floaty ethnic-print or embellished kaftans... and wear a plain cami underneath!

Team with a skirt for an ultra feminine feel, or over jeans or white trousers.

Matalan have a beautifully ladylike little cream top embellished with chiffon roses - and it's only £16.

Larger girls can do the sheer look with an Evans yellow polka dot blouse at £32.

And Republic in Meadowhall have a very dainty, not quite so prim tie neck blouse by Miso at £19.99.
