A surreal shopping list? The ramblings of a barmy poet?
No. These are just some of the tricks available at Magick On Broad Lane in Sheffield, a place where the keen and the mesmerised go to buy and learn their tricks.
"This is a place like no other really," said aspiring magician Tom Hudson.
"There
couldn't be a better place to learn. People ask who my role models are. I have role models but they aren't David Blaine or David Copperfield. My role models are Roger Curzon and Russell Hall.
"They are the ones who have taught and encouraged me and a lot of others in here, including top magician Paul Wilson who came in here for a while as part of his learning all around the country .
"I have such great respect for the two of them more than anyone on TV. They have shown me what I know."
According to Russell, Roger is one of the top card men around. Having seen him work, I wouldn't argue.
"Roger is among the best in Europe, no question about that," said Russell.
"People like David Blaine, Derren Brown and Paul Daniels have brought close-up magic to the fore."
Do any of the big names come to Sheffield for their tricks and inspiration?
"Yes," smiles Russell.
"I would like to tell you who they are but I'm like a doctor, I have to treat their identity with confidentiality.
"But I can say that people come from Manchester and Nottingham and all over the country to be here on Saturdays.
"We do have a national reputation."
