A STUDY led by researchers at the University of California suggests that taking vitamin D supplements may help treat eczema.
Scientists found the vitamin boosted production of a protective chemical found in normal skin, improving skin infections that are a result of atopic dermatitis - the most common form of eczema.
The research is the latest in a series of studies investigating the effects of vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is essential for the absorption of calcium.
