WHILE Castle Market traders are pleased with the council's support, the stallholders on The Moor feel they are the poor relations.
Traders on The Moor say they are also struggling to make a living but feel the council has ignored them while giving Castle Market all its support.

George Glover, who represents Moor traders, said there were fears there would be no room for the cu
rrent outdoor stalls once the new indoor market is built.

He said: "What is the council going to do with us? We have been fighting for more than two years to try to move forward with the markets.

"The issues at Castle Market also apply to us but the council is throwing money into Castle Market and ignoring the Moor.

"Bailing out Castle Market traders beggars belief. Will the council do the same for council tenants and agree to give them a backdated discount on their rent?

"We don't have the same rights as Castle Market and we are being discriminated against."

Mr Glover also believes unless the council acts quickly, there will be no markets left in the city.

He added: "The council is ploughing thousands into a market that continues to lose money. Markets in Sheffield are on the verge of extinction. Years of bad management and poor decisions have got us into this mess.

"The people of Sheffield want an outdoor market. And I don't mean a few stalls."
