HALF of the people in Sheffield say they are worrying more about their finances more than ever before.
Latest figures show 50 per cent of people in the city have never worried so much about their finances, according to a survey by personal insolvency experts Debt Lifeboat.
Six out of every 10 people admit to being more cautious with their money thi
s year and 60 per cent think twice before they reach for their purse or wallet.
A quarter admit they don't have any savings for a rainy day and they can't afford to start putting something aside.
Phillip Allen, managing director of Debt Lifeboat, said:
"These results show that the level of anxiety in Sheffield is particularly acute. Each day, our insolvency advisers are getting more phone calls from people in Sheffield and South Yorkshire who have reached breaking-point with their finances.
"Planning for the future and setting money aside each week for big expenses aren't always practical in the current climate.
"There are people in Sheffield who are really struggling at the moment."
