TRADESMEN across Doncaster are being offered the chance to get rid of their dodgy ladders with an 'amnesty' campaign to prevent deadly accidents.
With thousands of people seriously injured in the workplace by dangerous ladders each year, Doncaster Council is joining forces with the Health and Safety Executive for a 'Ladder Exchange'.

The council's Health and Safety team will offer help and
advice to local businesses throughout September and make sure any work involving heights is carried out securely.

Small businesses can get ladders checked and trade them in for new, discounted ones at Speedy Hire, HSS Hire or SGB Hire, who are all involved with the campaign.

Statistics show falls from heights continue to be the main cause of death in the workplace, and around a third are the result of a fall from a ladder. Workmen should check for loose rivets, rust or damaged feet to help prevent accidents from happening.
