A ROAD rage attack in which a car was chased through Doncaster countryside before being attacked by the occupants of another vehicle is being investigated by police.
No-one was injured but officers are mystified by the motive for the pursuit and criminal damage of a Ford Fiesta being driven from Barnby Dun to Arksey in the early hours of New Year's Eve.
It started as three Doncaster men, two aged 18 and one 20
, in a red Fiesta were travelling along High Street, Barnby Dun, towards the swing bridge when a dark car, believed to be a Peugeot 306, passed them in the opposite direction.
As they passed an object, possibly a tool, was thrown from the Peugeot towards the Fiesta. The Peugeot stopped and a man got out and retrieved the object.
The Fiesta drove onto Forstead Lane and headed towards Arksey and the Peugeot turned round and followed. The Fiesta pulled onto the grass verge after passing Marsh Lane and turned off its lights before the Peugeot drove past and out of sight.
After a few minutes the Fiesta continued its journey and as it entered Arksey something was thrown from the left hand side of the road hitting the car.
The driver stopped further up the road to examine his car and he then heard a car screeching towards him, so he got back into the car and drove into Brookfield Mews and parked on the driveway of one of the houses.
As the 18-year-old driver got out of the Fiesta, two men ran into Brookfield Mews and attacked his car, smashing the windows and lights with what appeared to be a large wrench and made threats towards him.
The men ran onto the main road and got back into the Peugeot, which was believed to have been driven by a third man towards Barnby Dun.
No one was injured.
The first man was white, about 5ft 10ins and in his early 20s. He was stocky, with short blond hair and wearing a dark top.
The second man was also white, same height but thinner than the first, wearing a dark hooded top. The third man stayed in the car.
