GUIDELINES for keeping vulnerable adults safe from abuse will be put to the public at an event in Doncaster next week.
It comes just over a month after a Doncaster Council report revealed there were 316 reports of abuse against adults in the borough during the last financial year - 52 more than 2006/07.
The authority believes the rise is due to better reporting p
rocedures. The consultation event at The Salvation Army Lakeside Community Church from 10am to 2.30pm on Thursday January 15, aims to get feedback on 'No Secrets', a document that illustrates how vulnerable adults should best be kept safe, well and free from abuse.
The guide is commonly used by organisations such as local authorities, police and health services.
At present the Govern-ment is seeking the public's views and opinions on how well this works, and on what improvements need to be made to the guidance to help people in the future.
Coun Martin Williams, the cabinet member for adult social care, said: "Safeguarding adults is of the upmost importance and I think that we should all be involved in making sure that the 'No Secrets' guidance is current and representative of our views on how best to keep vulnerable adults safe."
