A YOUNG widow is hitting the road to raise money in memory of her husband who died of a brain haemorrhage aged just 31.
Dayle Amesbury's wife Michelle, aged 25, has organised a team of runners to help raise money to pay for more research into the causes and prevention of brain haemorrhages, and to help raise awareness of the condition.
They will take part in the Bu
pa Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield tomorrow.
It is one of a series of events the team has organised this year and so far have raised more than £5,000 for the Clarke Lister Foundation charity.
Last month Michelle, from Woodlands, organised a charity auction which attracted a range of donations from celebrities including a handbag used by Barbara Windsor in BBC TV's EastEnders.
Michelle will be joined by four more runners, Casey Pask and Ben Hodgson, also from Woodlands and twins Lauren and Kimberley Cheesewright, from Harworth, who have been helping her to train for the run over the past few months.
Dayle, a field auditor for Travis Perkins, died last December.
Michelle said: "When my husband died, I didn't know where to turn. I didn't have all the answers I was looking for and the Clarke Lister Foundation provided me with a huge amount of support.
"It is a relatively small charity, and I hope that by taking part in the 10k, I can raise more money in memory of Dayle.
"So far I've managed to raise over a thousand pounds in sponsorship for the run. The training has been a great way to take my mind of things, and I've had a terrific amount of support from friends and family.
"I think Dayle would be proud of me – but I think he'd be laughing to see me running. I always hated it at school."
Lauren said: "It's the first time that I have ever attempted to run a 10k but we wanted to run with Michelle and help her to raise as much as possible.
"We're not what you'd call typical athlete material, but we're going to give our best shot and try and spend more time running in the race than walking."
