DONCASTER Olympic Bronze medallist Sarah Stevenson has been handed another award to put next to her medal.
She has been presented with an honorary Discover the Spirit Award in recognition of her achievement in taekwondo at the games in Beijing.

On receiving her award Sarah, from Bentley, said: "I have been overwhelmed by all the kind words from everyone in the borough.

"I am especially thankful for the support given to me over the years from my mum and dad, family and coach.

"I'm really proud of where I'm from and I think Doncaster is a great town which keeps getting better."

The Spirit awards were established six years ago to honour the wide variety of contributions made by Doncaster residents to the community.

If you know someone who you feel deserves an award, make a nomination before the Friday September 19 deadline by visiting www.doncaster.gov.uk/spiritawards or picking up a nomination leaflet at a Doncaster Council building.
